And, just like that, February is over. I’m writing this post at 8am in Starbucks before I go to work as we have an extra day in the shortest month of the year in 2024 and I am determined to be productive and take advantage of the leap year. February has not been a very odd month for me as I have had to adapt to a new job and routine. It has been very difficult at times to navigate early alarm calls when it’s still pitch black as I leave the house. However, this last week has blessed us with some sunshine, and it is fully light by 7am now. Spring is on the way guys, we’ve got this.
- Noah Kahan- I know that I’m very late to the party but this month I’ve been listening to Noah Kahan’s Stick Season album on repeat. I really love the contrast between the Vermont singer’s gritty voice and lyrics, with his soft folk sound. My favourite tracks are ‘Homesick’, ‘Orange Juice’ and ‘Northern Attitude’.

2. Haunted Scouse– Last weekend I watched the Saturday matinee performance of Haunted Scouse at Liverpool’s Royal Court, a theatre that is renowned within the city for its comedic shows that celebrate Scouse humour and talent. Its current production tells the story of the recently deceased Charlie (played by Brookside and Coronation Street star Michael Starke) whose ghost comes back to visit his wife Molly (played by Starke’s real-life spouse Lynn Francis. Although the supernatural plot sounds like it would be better suited for Halloween, it is actually a lovely (albeit totally bonkers) love story, perfect for couples to watch together on Valentine’s month date nights.

3. Wildwood- After my trip to theatre, my friends and I went for food at Wildwood, a restaurant chain that has branches across the country. It specialises in pizzas and pastas but I ordered the minutes steak, served with a delicious garlic butter and skinny fries. Not many restaurants serve steaks for less than sixteen quid in today’s economy and I had absolutely no complaints about my meal. Excellent value for money.

4. Typo- As I now work in Newcastle, I often find myself wandering around Eldon Square on an evening while waiting for the bus and I’ve discovered Typo, a cute and quirky gift shop. I initially went in buy a birthday card for a friend, but I found loads of lovely mugs, stationary, candles, socks etc that I could easily have spent a fortune in there.

5. The Apprentice– Thursdays are currently my favourite day of the week now that The Apprentice is back on. I absolutely love watching the hopefuls crumble at the tasks that Alan Sugar sets the and pretending to myself that I could do a better job.
