Now that winter is approaching and the clocks have went back, it’s crazy to think how different life was this time last year. The second lockdown started 12 months ago and the restrictions that made life very difficult for a lot of people now seem so far away. These are the things that I’ve enjoyed this October:
- Great British Dog Walk- Earlier this month, I took part in the Great British Dog Walk with my dog Paddy in the stunning grounds of Raby Castle. The Great British Dog Walk is an nation-wide event for doggies and their owners at a variety of locations across the country, with all funds raised going towards providing hearing dogs for people who are hard of hearing. It was so good to get some well-needed fresh air and the views of the castle grounds in their autumnal splendour were absolutely gorgeous.

- American Horror Story– I’m not a fan of horror films but, in the run up to Halloween, I am always in the mood to watch the brilliant American Horror Story on Netflix. The show is one of the first series that I binged when I subscribed to Netflix while I was at uni and is still one of my favourite TV programmes. Ryan Murphy’s idea of exploring the concept of a horror movie and developing the characters and themes to create a full ten episode series is absolutely genius. The show’s first series, Murder House, is 10 years old this year and it is still as dark, twisted and bloody brilliant as it was when it first premiered.
- Collection Lasting Perfection Foundations- One of the advantages of the lockdown and compulsory face coverings in indoor spaces was the amount of money I saved on make-up as I didn’t see the point of putting on a full face of foundation for most of it to be wiped off onto my mask. However, now that life is starting to return as it was pre-pandemic, I have had to buy more foundation for day-to-day wear. As someone who has struggled with acne since my early teens, I like a foundation with a strong coverage and I’ve tried a few different brands over the last decade but my favourite has to be Collection. It’s cheap, comes in a broad variety of shades and is made by a cruelty-free brand. What more is there to love about it?
- My new skirt- As part of my effort to cut down on my consumption of brand new clothing, I’ve finally joined Depop. I’ve bought a couple of pre-loved pieces from the market-place site but my favourite has to be the black suede mini-skirt that I got for a fiver! I’m not sure where it’s from originally, but it is really good quality. It’s absolutely for going out for drinks and I wore it with a black mesh top to create a goth look for my last minute Halloween party plans.
