I apologise for posting my March favourites slightly later this month, as we’re now a few days into April. Spring has begun and this last week has seen the beginning of the easing of lockdown restrictions.
I’ve been very busy this month, as I’ve started a new job where I can’t work from home any more. Although I do miss the slow pace of WFH, I feel that I have more of a structure in my daily routine now that I need to actually get dressed and make sure I have all my things ready on a morning before going into the office. It’s also good to meet new colleagues and interact with other people my own age after months of being locked in the house with only my parents to speak to.
So, without further ado, here are the things that I’ve enjoyed this month.

- Hot Cross Buns- It’s that time of the year when the supermarkets get ready for Easter by bringing out all the egg themed chocolate and hot cross buns, both of which I am a huge fan of. Recently, hot cross buns have gone from the standard tea-cake variety to decadent treats that come in different varieties. Me and my mum have tried a several of the flavours that M&S and Aldi offer and my favourites are Aldi’s chilli and cheese (which I would recommend for lunch rather than for breakfast as they taste lovely when eaten as a toasties with melted cheese and chutney in the middle) and M&S strawberry and white chocolate (a combination which never fails in my eyes)
2. The Circle Celebrity– Despite not being a massive fan of reality T.V, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the celebrity version of The Circle. I gave it a go after watching a clip on Gogglebox and I thought the concept of putting contestants in solitary studio apartments and making them compete against each other on a virtual messaging platform very interesting. It reminded me of more updated version of Big Brother, which I used to absolutely love, and it’s very fitting for today’s climate of social distancing. Channel 4 showed nightly episodes for around a week, and I think that I would have got bored of it if it went on any longer, but it was perfect trash TV if that’s your thing.

3. Skincare- During the last 12 months, I have invested a lot of effort into my skincare routine. I’ve always struggled with acne-prone skin since my early teens and now I rarely wear make-up since I’ve got nowhere to go in public, I’ve spent a lot of my spare time in lockdown reading and trying the best skincare products on the market. I’ve been very disappointed by a lot of them, if I’m being perfectly honest, but I ordered a couple of new products from Beauty Bay this month and, dare I say, I’ve noticed my spots start to clear up. After cleaning my face on an evening, I’ll pour some of Revolution’s 2% salicyclic acid blemishing toner on a cotton wool ball and rub it on my face. I’ll also use The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum once or twice a week. My skin feels a lot smoother and clearer, and I would go as far to say that they are the most effective skincare products that I have so far tried.
4. Chemtrails Over the Country Club- This month saw the release of Lana Del Ray’s eagerly anticipated seventh album, Chemtrails Over The Country Club. I can’t believe it’s been nearly a decade since I first heard Lana’s alluring vocals and haunting lyrics when she released her debut single, Video Games. I love her distinct sound, and my favourite tracks on her new album are White Dress and Wild At Heart.
